Samantha Jones, born in a small Illinois town just outside of St. Louis, has had a life-long passion for music. She began studying voice at the age of 10 when she joined her first choir. Since then, she has continued her studies through both school and private lessons. While in middle and high school, Samantha was selected for numerous honor choirs in the region. In 2020, 2021, and 2022, Samantha placed first overall in the Illinois district 6 choral competition, granting her a place in the Illinois State Honors Chorus. During this time, Samantha also explored her passion for theatre, playing roles such as Rapunzel (Into the Woods) and Jo March (Little Women). Samantha also was known locally for frequent performances at games, events, and farmers markets.
After graduating High School at 17, Samantha moved to New York City to attend the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College. Here, she began to study classical voice under the instruction of Susan Gonzalez and Ron Raines. While pursuing her Bachelor of Music, she has frequently performed as a soloist in the College Choir and Chamber Choir and holds the position of section leader and assistant to Dr. Michael Sheetz, director of Choral Studies. Other performances at Hunter College include multiple new works with the Hunter Opera Theatre and Hunter Chamber Music ensemble.
Samantha is set to graduate in the Spring of 2026 and plans on continuing education further in the following years.
